TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE THE 2013 CLEMSON UNIVERSITY "TIGERS" FOOTBALL TEAM AND THEIR HEAD COACH DABO SWINNEY FOR ITS WIN AT THE 2014 ORANGE BOWL AND ON AN OUTSTANDING 2013 FOOTBALL SEASON.

Whereas, the Clemson University football team, under the leadership of Head Coach Dabo Swinney, topped off a winning season with a thrilling victory over Ohio State in the Orange Bowl; and

Whereas, the Clemson Tigers began the season ranked number eight in the AP Poll, and after defeating the University of Georgia 38-35, the Tigers rose as high as number three in the poll; and

Whereas, although the Ohio State Buckeyes were favored to win the Orange Bowl by three points the Tigers defeated them 40-35; and

Whereas, the Tigers, through their win at the Orange Bowl ended their season ranked number eight and Ohio State number twelve in the AP Poll; and

Whereas, quarterback Tajh Boyd had a record-setting night, throwing for 378 yards and five touchdowns; and

Whereas, wide receiver Sammy Watkins also had a record-setting game with sixteen catches for 227 yards and two touchdowns; and

Whereas, through his performance, Watkins became Clemson's career receptions leader and set an Orange Bowl record for yardage; and

Whereas, Clemson's victory over Ohio State was the university's first Bowl Championship Series bowl victory; and

Whereas, the Tigers had 576 total yards, 198 of which were rushing yards, which is the most the Buckeyes' defense has allowed this season; and

Whereas, Clemson University tight end Stanton Steckinger caught the winning touchdown with six minutes and sixteen seconds left in the game, clinching the victory for the Tigers. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate recognize and congratulate the 2013 Clemson University "Tigers" football team and their head coach Dabo Swinney for its win at the 2014 Orange Bowl and on an outstanding 2013 season.
