A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE KEN DRACHMAN FOR BEING ELECTED TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA MANUFACTURED HOUSING HALL OF FAME.

Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is pleased to learn that Ken Drachman has been elected to the South Carolina Manufactured Housing Hall of Fame. He is one of only thirty-five people to receive this honor; and

Whereas, after college, Mr. Drachman found his place in the business world quickly, moving into finance when he joined lender GMAC in 1978. He rose quickly into leadership roles; and

Whereas, as his career advanced, Mr. Drachman moved to Washington, DC, working for NationsBank, and he then moved into retail lending in 1997, working with First Federal in Charleston. As First Federal became a part of SouthBank, he continued his role as one of the key lender representatives for the industry; and

Whereas, Mr. Drachman has served several terms on the Board of the Manufactured Housing Institute of South Carolina, the organization that works to promote high standards and exemplary business practices in the factory-built home industry; and

Whereas, Mr. Drachman has served as President of the Charleston Chapter of the Manufactured Housing Institute of South Carolina and has continued to take on challenging roles with the institute as the industry made a successful comeback from downturn in the 2000s; and

Whereas, in recognition of Mr. Drachman's leadership abilities, the members elected him to a top spot, serving on the association's Executive Committee as Treasurer. His financial and industry knowledge made him a valuable member of that leadership team, helping guide the Manufactured Housing Institute of South Carolina and the industry through our nation's severe recession which began in 2008; and

Whereas, Mr. Drachman would say 'yes' whenever the association asked him to accept a leadership role or to serve as a spokesman for the industry on an important issue; and

Whereas, Mr. Drachman is currently retired, capping his successful career as a respected representative for SouthBank and an industry leader; and

Whereas, Mr. Drachman is married to Annette, an attorney, and together they have two sons; and

Whereas, the Senate is grateful for Mr. Drachman's dedicated service to the people and the State of South Carolina and takes great pleasure in saluting him for being elected to the South Carolina Manufactured Housing Hall of Fame. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Ken Drachman for being elected to the South Carolina Manufactured Housing Hall of Fame.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Ken Drachman.
