VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE TONY MASSARELLI FOR BEING ELECTED TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA MANUFACTURED HOUSING HALL OF FAME.
Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is pleased to learn that Tony Massarelli has been elected to the South Carolina Manufactured Housing Hall of Fame. He is one of only thirty-five people to receive this honor; and
Whereas, Mr. Massarelli is known for his strong work ethic, a trait instilled by his father, who worked for the city, starting out in sanitation and working his way up. His family came to America from Italy three generations before; and
Whereas, as a young person, he quickly found his niche. At the age of nineteen, he went to work with an independent manufactured home retailer in the Upstate; and
Whereas, Mr. Massarelli joined the Clayton Manufactured Home organization and Clayton's corporate management quickly recognized his talent. He soon became a Top Twenty-Five salesman for the entire Clayton organization; and
Whereas, at age twenty-five, Mr. Massarelli was promoted to district manager. He was then promoted to Regional Vice President and soon had responsibilities throughout the South. When Clayton acquired the Oakwood retail chain, Mr. Massarelli oversaw the process of making stores in South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee a key part of the company's marketing culture; and
Whereas, Mr. Massarelli first got involved with the Manufactured Housing Institute of South Carolina by participating in the Upstate chapter. He moved rapidly up the ranks of the association, serving on the Board and Executive Committee and serving as Chair from 2011-2013; and
Whereas, Mr. Massarelli's confident leadership and people skills kept the Manufactured Housing Institute of South Carolina on an even keel during a time when both the industry and the association were facing severe financial challenges; and
Whereas, currently, Mr. Massarelli is the General Manager of Clayton Homes of Beaufort; and
Whereas, a significant factor in his success has been his ability to motivate people, to give them the confidence to be creative and do their best. He follows the time-honored principle of treating people they way he would like to be treated. When a challenge or a problem arises, he brings a calm, level-headed approach to the issue; and
Whereas, the Senate is grateful for Mr. Massarelli's dedicated service to the people and the State of South Carolina and takes great pleasure in saluting him for being elected to the South Carolina Manufactured Housing Hall of Fame. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Tony Massarelli for being elected to the South Carolina Manufactured Housing Hall of Fame.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Tony Massarelli.
