A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND SERGEANT JOHN MURRAY OF THE DORCHESTER COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER YEARS OF EXEMPLARY SERVICE AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives have learned that Sergeant John Murray began a well-deserved retirement after many years of dedicated and outstanding service to the citizens of the Palmetto State on February 26, 2021; and

Whereas, John Murray served his country with distinction in the United States Navy for twenty years, retiring at the rank of chief; and

Whereas, after his retirement from the Navy, he continued aiding the citizens of the State of South Carolina by commencing a career as a law enforcement officer for the Summerville Police Department from 1993 until 2011. Sergeant Murray then became a deputy for the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office in 2011, where he served with distinction, earning the rank of Sergeant prior to his retirement in 2021; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives values the long and enduring service John Murray has rendered to this great State and to the citizens of South Carolina. Taking great pleasure in wishing him well as he enters retirement, the members trust he will find much enjoyment in the more leisurely pace of the days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend Sergeant John Murray of the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office upon the occasion of his retirement after years of exemplary service and wish him continued success and happiness in his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Sergeant John Murray.
