Rep. White proposes the following amendment (LC-4927.HA0023H):

Amend the bill, as and if amended, by striking in SECTION 1, Section 44-12-20, and inserting:

Section 44-12-20. The Secretary of Health and Policy shall be the head and governing authority of the office. The secretary must be appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate, subject to removal from office by the Governor pursuant to the provisions of Section 1-3-240(B). In addition, the General Assembly must vote every two years on the retention of the secretary appointed by the Governor. The secretary may remain in office if the General Assembly, by majority vote of each respective body, votes in favor of the secretary remaining in office.
