School volunteer chaplains and historical displays
Rep. WEEKS proposes the following amendment (LC-4762.PH0010H):
Amend the bill, as and if amended, SECTION 2, Section 59-1-485, by adding an item to read:
(8) No later than January 1, 2027, each public school governing authority shall display Matthew 22:37-40 in each classroom in each school under its jurisdiction. The nature of the display shall be determined by each governing authority with a minimum requirement that Matthew 22:37-40 shall be displayed on a poster or framed document that is at least eleven inches by fourteen inches. The text of the Matthew 22:37-40 shall be the central focus of the poster or framed document and shall be printed in a large, easily readable font. The text shall read as follows:"You must love your God with all your heart. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is like unto it, love your neighbor as yourself."
