A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING DR. LEONE CASTLES ROCHELLE OF RICHLAND COUNTY ON RECEIVING THE 1998 "AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN SECONDARY SCHOOL SCIENCE OR MATHEMATICS TEACHING" FROM THE SOUTH CAROLINA ACADEMY OF SCIENCE.

Whereas, Dr. Leone Castles Rochelle of Richland County has been presented the 1998 "Award for Excellence in Secondary School Science or Mathematics Teaching" from the South Carolina Academy of Science; and

Whereas, Dr. Rochelle, a biology and health teacher at Spring Valley High School, received this prestigious award in recognition of twenty-three years of dedicated service to the students of South Carolina as an outstanding science teacher and role model; and

Whereas, she was educated at Dreher High School of Columbia, and she earned her degrees from the University of South Carolina, her B.S. and M.A.T. degrees in biology and her Ph.D. degree in health promotion and education; and

Whereas, she is committed to excellence in public education and has had a tremendous impact on the lives of her many students over the years; and

Whereas, it is indeed a pleasure to have the opportunity to recognize such a special individual. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Dr. Leone Castles Rochelle of Richland County on receiving the 1998 "Award for Excellence in Secondary School Science and Mathematics Teaching" from the South Carolina Academy of Science.

Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Rochelle and the principal of Spring Valley High School.
