EXPRESSING THE SINCERE APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO JOHN B. RHODES FOR HIS YEARS OF SERVICE TO HIGHER EDUCATION AND BUSINESS GROWTH.
Whereas, John B. Rhodes has served both his community and the entire state tirelessly for decades, holding offices and positions in a legion of organizations; and
Whereas, Mr. Rhodes has made particular impact in the areas of local and state government, business growth, and education; and
Whereas, Mr. Rhodes honorably served as a Walterboro City Councilman, as the 14th District's commissioner to the state Department of Highways and Public Transportation, and as chairman of the Hampton Street Auditorium Fund Raising Committee; and
Whereas, Mr. Rhodes was a charter member and later the president of the Walterboro-Colleton Chamber of Commerce, a chairman of the Colleton County Resource and Development Board, a member of the U.S. Small Business Administration Advisory Committee, and a member of the South Carolina National Bank Walterboro's Advisory Board of Directors; and
Whereas, Mr. Rhodes dutifully served as a member of the S.C. Educational Finance Committee and on the North Greenville College Council of Advisors; and
Whereas, Mr. Rhodes now serves on the SCANA Board of Directors and Charleston Southern University Board of Visitors and has generously funded the J.B. Rhodes Scholarship at Charleston Southern University. Now therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, express deep gratitude and appreciation for years of dedication to the state's educational and economic growth.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to John B. Rhodes.
