A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING DR. LEONARD ANTHONY McINTYRE FOR HIS EXCELLENT PUBLIC SERVICE AS SUPERINTENDENT OF HAMPTON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT TWO, AND CONGRATULATING HIM ON HIS NEW POSITION WITH THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

Whereas, Leonard A. McIntrye, Ph.D., is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana; he received his undergraduate degree in Spanish/Education from Loyola University and received his master's degree from Tulane University in Spanish Literature and was certified as a Reading Specialist; he earned his doctorate degree in educational administration from Iowa State University; and

Whereas, in July, 1996, Dr. McIntyre began his tenure as Superintendent of Hampton County School District Two, where he met the challenges associated with promoting the growth and development of the students and adults in the district; he has been highly successful in this position and has meant much to the students of Hampton County; and

Whereas, Dr. McIntyre is a member of numerous professional associations; he has also been actively involved in the community, and, to this end, he has served as a board member of the Hampton County Chamber of Commerce, board member of PRO Hampton County, member of the Hampton County Rotary Club, board member of FCI, member of International Papers Community Advisory Board, advisory council member of the Institute for Families in Society, and member of the Hampton County Environmental Advisory Committee; and

Whereas, recently he was offered a high-level position with the South Carolina Department of Education; thus, he will be leaving Hampton County School District Two to accept the statewide position where he will be able to put to good use for the entire State his expertise, knowledge, professionalism, and leadership; and

Whereas, this dynamic and talented leader is highly deserving of recognition, and we take pleasure in commending and congratulating him in this special manner. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend Dr. Leonard Anthony McIntyre for his excellent public service as Superintendent of Hampton County School District Two and congratulate him on his new position with the South Carolina Department of Education.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. McIntyre.
