TO COMMEND THE COACH AND MEMBERS OF THE LEXINGTON HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL TEAM FOR THEIR FINE SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2001 STATE SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina is pleased to learn that the "Wildcats" of Lexington High School won this year's state championship for softball capping off an outstanding season; and
Whereas, this year's win at the state tournament earned the Lexington "Wildcats" their second straight state title giving them titles in 2000 and 2001. This year's title finished off a very strong season in which the "Wildcats" completed with thirty-one wins and only four losses; and
Whereas, the team was guided by Coach Scott Jumper and comprised of Taylor Cain, Sarah Areheart, Katherine Mustard, Leshe Russell, Brittany Paulling, Tammy Harris, Amanda Justice, Nikki Howell, Susannah Waller, Kelly Rabon, T. Jones-Black, Tara Hammond, Erica Nabors, Ashley Glover, and Courtney Spence.
Whereas, complacency can be common among successful teams, the Lexington High School Softball Team stayed very hungry and was willing to put forth the extra effort to get over the obstacles in their way; and
Whereas, talent, motivation, and the fundamentals carried this team to its second straight state softball title, it is most befitting that the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina pause in their deliberations to commend and congratulate the "Wildcats" of Lexington High School upon their remarkable and successful season. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina commend the coaches and members of the Lexington High School Softball Team for their fine season and to congratulate them for winning the 2001 State Softball Championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Scott Jumper and the members of the Lexington High School Softball Team.
