To whom was referred a Concurrent Resolution (S. 600) to request that the Department of Transportation put up exit and directional signs on appropriate exits off of Interstate 20 and Interstate 26 in Lexington County and pay all costs from Lexington County, etc., respectfully
That they have duly and carefully considered the same and recommend that the same do pass:

TO REQUEST THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION PUT UP EXIT AND DIRECTIONAL SIGNS ON APPROPRIATE EXITS OFF OF INTERSTATE 20 AND INTERSTATE 26 IN LEXINGTON COUNTY AND PAY ALL COSTS FROM LEXINGTON COUNTY "C" FUNDS, SO AS TO PROVIDE EXIT INFORMATION AND DIRECTIONS TO THE LEXINGTON COUNTY MUSEUM.
Whereas, the present interstate exit signs for the Lexington County Museum are inadequate considering the quality of the museum that encompasses three acres and twenty-two authentic buildings of great historic, cultural, and educational value; and
Whereas, the Lexington County Museum is acknowledged as one of the three best museums in the category of restoration complex in South Carolina. It is bigger than Walnut Grove and needs exit and directional signs appropriate for this high quality museum; and
Whereas, the Lexington County Museum is the only "point of interest" listed in the American Automobile Association Tourbook for Lexington County, and yet there is inadequate signage along Interstate 20 and Interstate 26 to provide travelers information about the museum; and
Whereas, the Friends of Lexington County Museum have raised more than seventy-five thousand dollars in private funds for the museum in the past few years, which demonstrates the high amount of public interest in the museum and the need for exit and directional signs along the roadways; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly request that the Department of Transportation put up exit and directional signs at exits along Interstate 20 and Interstate 26 in Lexington County to provide directions to the Lexington County Museum to increase public awareness and attendance of the museum. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, request that the Department of Transportation put up exit and directional signs on appropriate exits off of Interstate 20 and Interstate 26 in Lexington County and pay all costs from Lexington County "C" funds so as to provide exit information and directions to the Lexington County Museum.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation and the Friends of the Lexington County Museum.
