VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE RAYMOND G. FARMER UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS DIRECTOR OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS NINE AND A HALF YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE YEARS AHEAD.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Raymond G. Farmer upon the occasion of his retirement from the South Carolina Department of Insurance on April 15, 2022; and
Whereas, Mr. Farmer has served as Director for the South Carolina Department of Insurance since former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley appointed him on November 13, 2012. Mr. Farmer brings over fifty years of experience in the insurance industry to his leadership role; and
Whereas, in 2017, Mr. Farmer received the Order of the Palmetto from Governor Haley, the state's highest civilian honor awarded to citizens of South Carolina for extraordinary lifetime service and achievements of national or statewide significance; and
Whereas, the following year, Mr. Farmer oversaw the passing of the Data Security Law, a law that is the first in the nation to require insurance companies to have a comprehensive and secure plan to protect consumer data; and
Whereas, in 2020, Mr. Farmer served as President of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC); and
Whereas, in honor of Mr. Farmer's years of service and exemplary leadership in the insurance sector, in December of 2021, Mr. Farmer was presented with the NAIC President's Award for Distinguished NAIC leadership and the award was renamed in his honor to the Raymond G. Farmer Award for Exceptional Leadership; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the passion and dedication that Raymond G. Farmer has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Raymond G. Farmer upon the occasion of his retirement as Director of the South Carolina Department of Insurance, commend him for his nine and a half years of dedicated service, and wish him much happiness and fulfillment in the years ahead.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Raymond G. Farmer.
